New Institutional Affiliations

The Media Cloud team would like to share our new institutional affiliations for the project and team.

As of August 30, 2020, the Media Cloud project will no longer be affiliated with the MIT Media Lab following the closure of the Center for Civic Media. The project continues to have an affiliation with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.

Project principal investigator Ethan Zuckerman is starting at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst as an Associate Professor of Public Policy, Communication and Information, where he will continue to lead research using Media Cloud as part of a new Institute for Digital Public Infrastructure. Previous project CTO Rahul Bhargava is now a professor at Northeastern University, where his new lab explores the civic impacts of data storytelling and visualization; Rahul will continue to be involved in the Media Cloud project, while Dennis Jen assumes the role of CTO.

The Media Cloud team also continues to work with partners on research and educational projects through the nonprofit Media Ecosystems Analysis Group.
